Photo of the Day

I just love making these little crowns and I had the honor of being asked to make one special for this little birthday girl.  This is Abbey.  I first worked with Abbey when I was booking through Adora Models for some product shots.  She modeled twice for me and did a FANTASTIC job.

This time her mom contacted me to make Abbey a special crown to match her birthday dress.  I was happy to do this for her!

Look at this beautiful girl!  Just stunning!  Thank you Kaitte and Abbey!  Also thank you to Photos by LaRae Russell Photography for the amazing pictures!

Blog Schedule

So, I have decided to set up a schedule to help keep me motivated to post and keep things interesting.

For the most part I plan to stick to this schedule but occasionally you might seen a random post about something unrelated to one of these topics.

Monday: Photo of the Day

- This is where I will post a favorite photo.  It will be a photo of my work, my kids or of something else I love.

Tuesday: Deal of the Week

- I will list one item of my choice on sale for that week.  The sale will only run for that week.  Ending the following Tuesday.

Wednesday:  Wordless Wednesday

- I will chose a photo that I think speaks to me and might speak to you in some way.  I just love photography of all sorts so I am sure I will not have a hard time finding something lovely to post here.

Thursday:  Thankful Thursday

-  There are so many things in life to be thankful for and too often they go unnoticed or unmentioned.  This is where I get to reflect on something (even something small) that I am thankful for.  I'd love to hear what you are Thankful for also :-)

Friday:  Friday Shout Outs

-  I will choose a shop to do a shout out off.  There are so many wonderful shops out there and I look forward to showing some love to those other shops!

My little model

So, you would think that being a crocheter and having 3 gorgeous children that I would be able to easily get pictures of my products...no problem.  WRONG!  LOL

I really try hard NOT to bother them too often but when I do, most of the time they do not want to cooperate.  This is especially true of my daughter...unfortunate for me...I know!

Well, I made this new hat for her and just happened to catch her in a GREAT mood.  I still need to work on my photography (a few are a little blurry/grainy) but overall I am happy with the results.  She smiled, I mean actually SMILED!  YAY!

So here she is, my little model in all her glory modeling her new hat.  She is quite beautiful if I do say so my self :-)

If you are curious...this is the NEW Stylin Newsie hat.  I will be adding the listing for it to my shop soon.  If you have any questions you can always contact me via email or on Facebook

Spring Cleaning in Februrary

This has been a MILD winter to say the least.  As much as I do love this gorgeous spring weather, I do hope we still get SOME snow.  I sure do enjoy playing in the snow with the kids.  We have had their snow boots lined up by the door for months now..haha

This unusual spring like weather must have set something off in me.  I just can't stop cleaning out and organizing.

Yesterday I cleaned every nook possible in my bathroom, hall closet, the top of my refrigerator and my pantry.  It feels good to have that done now and 3 bags of trash out of the house but my house pretty much exploded yesterday...LOL

Today I have decided to change out some of my 3 year olds clothing.  For the most part his tiny little butt still fits in his 2T clothing.  Some of the pants and shirts are starting to get too short.  I put a bunch of stuff away in the attic and brought down all the 3T clothes I could find.

So today is officially laundry day!  Washing all the old clothes and the new ones I just unpacked.  Nice clean, re organized drawers are in my future :-)

I think I am going to stay on this path for a few more days and really get some stuff cleared out.  Now to decide what to get into this weekend?

Yay....New organization :-)

My main work space is upstairs in my living room.  I have a very small house so this is the best I can do...lol  One day I WILL have my dream craft room/office!  I will, I will, I will!

The majority of my yarn stash is in bins in my bedroom.  Oh, my poor, poor bed room.  That is next on the list for organization!

I keep my most used yarns and current project yarns etc. up stairs close at hand.  I have been using the wire snap together crate sort of storage until just now.  I should have taken a picture of my old storage but I was so excited to get this set up that I forgot to!  OOPS!

I got a GREAT deal on this new shelving unit at Kmart.  It is regularly $59.99.  I got it for $34.99, then I found a coupon code for $10 off.  So it was $24.99.  I then ordered chocolate colored bins for each cubby, they were on sale from $6.99 to $2.69.  SCORE!  The storage unit was available to be picked up in the store but the bins needed to be shipped....$16.61 for shipping.  I searched and searched and found another coupon code for FREE shipping.  I was doing my little happy dance around my living room.  LOL

So here is my current set up.  I am still waiting for the bins but as soon as they arrive I will get my yarn all neatly tucked away inside each one and share another picture :-)

My little work space.  My yarn, printer/supplies, comfy chair and laptop.  Don't mind the mess on the banister behind it all!  haha

Thankful Thursday....I am Thankful for Nicole :-)

To say I am one lucky girl is an understatement.  I first met Nicole through a mutual friend.  She began taking our family photos.  Shortly after that I started my little business.  The timing was perfect.  She was working on growing her business and I was starting mine.

We began to work together!

Over the past 2 years, our personal and business relationship has grown.  She is an amazing person and photographer.  I am proud to call her my friend and to have my worked represented by Nicole Renee Photography.

Here are few of my recent product photo's from Nicole.  It is SO hard to choose just a few but you can see more of my "Nicole Renee" pictures here and here.

And here are a few of MY babies modeling some products and photographed by Nicole :-)

Thank you Nicole for being so amazing!  You have really helped my business grow and it is such a pleasure to work with you!

Mommy's little Protege....

Be still my heart!  I was working on some mittens the other day and took a short break.  When I came back in the room, this is what I found.  My youngest, Landon (age 3) was "working hard" trying to help me.  I let him have a go as long as he wanted...LOL

"Lets see, this goes in here like this"

"And then you pull up the yarn a little bit"

"I have to get this stuff between my fingers some how"

"TA DA"

"NO, NO, NO...that is not right at all"

I loved watching him and very quietly snapping pictures.  His determination was so cute!

A little Ryan Gosling to brighten your day :-)

I just love seeing these pictures and reading the captions.  They crack me up.  I am sure there are more but here are a few of my personal favorites.

ENJOY!

Now, if these don't make you smile...I don't know what will!  Especially if you are a crocheter like me.

A girl can dream...right!?

Introduction

Well, since this is my first "real" post.  I'd like to take the time to introduce myself.  My name is Melanie Pizzini.  I am 34 years old and I live in Maryland.  I live here with my husband Larry, our 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hermit crabs and guinea pig :-)  Yes...it is a BUSY household to say the least.

I have been able to stay home with all of my kids.  When our first son was born I was able to stay home with him by doing in home daycare for several other kids.  I have always loved kids so this was PERFECT for me.  As my kids have gotten older, I want to be more involved with their schooling so having a full daycare here at the house is not ideal.

I began crocheting when I was 8 years old.  Over the years I took a few breaks but this became the perfect time to pick up my craft full force.  I had no idea my little business idea would take off and allow me to stay home with my kids comfortably but it did.  I am so blessed to be able to stay home and do what I love working from home.

My kids are now 8 years old, 5 years old and 3 years old.  They are amazing and keep me on my toes but I cherish every moment with them and look forward to the years ahead.

I am new to blogging so please bare with me as I get used to it..

WELCOME TO MY BLOG :-)

Under Construction

I have played around with doing a personal blog in the past and then I also have my business stuff...ugh...so much to keep track of.  I decided to give this one more shot!  I plan on using this little blog as a way of sharing life moments as well as some crafty ones.  I am new to blogging and as you can see this page has a long way to go.  I am still trying to figure out how to add things, work with html etc.

It is a work in progress :-)
