Making our own snow globes

Making snow globes is something that has been on my to do list for quite a while.  We finally got around to making them today.  I only had Landon and Autumn home to do this today but I am SURE Logan and Gloria will be making on this evening!

Snow Globes

We gathered our supplies.  "TOY" of choice.  They each chose a fake model tree.  Then we super glued them to the inside of the lid, added distilled water to our jars (adding liquid glycerin will thicken the water and make the snow fall slower but I couldn't find any in the stores...oh well.)

Add glitter to the water.  Use as little or as much as you want.  We used quite a bit :-)

Shake and ENJOY

And now you have a beautiful homemade snow globe to enjoy.

Thumb Print Trees

It is a beautiful but rainy fall day here.  So we decided to work on a few fun fall crafts.  The first one we did today was "thumb print tree".  These were easy and lots of fun.

Thumb Print Trees

We worked together to paint the tree trunk and branches.

Landon is not my "messy" child.  He refused to use his thumb to make the leaves despite my best efforts to convince him that it was ok.  LOL  He opted for the paint brush :-)

Autumn did a great job making her thumb print leaves :-)

Showing me her messy hands.  This cracks me up because it is SO NOT messy.  If this were Gloria, she would be COVERED in paint :-)

Weekly Wrap Up

This is my busy time of year and I am plugging along trying to get lots of orders done each week.  I am very happy with last weeks progress and hoping this week is just as productive.

Here is what I got done this week:

3-6 month Raven's Football Beanie

6-12 month fuzzy button beanie

Four super cute fuzzy bear hats

Adorable Lauren Beanie with Elephant applique

Newborn cute as a button beanie

Newborn turtle set

Newborn long tail stocking cap

Halloween inspired hair spirals

Halloween inspired hair spirals (also great to show your support for the ORIOLES!!!)

Adult slipper boots

Cupcake headband

Adult Sam earflap hat
I made all 6 of these awesome basket weave beanies in one day (while having to figure out the sizing for the pattern).  It was sort of a personal goal/challenge to figure out the pattern for all the sizes.  It was a great sense of accomplishment and now I have this awesome new hat to add to my shop.  Most of these hats will be part of my stock at the Painted Daisy Consignment shop, so it was a win/win :-)
Wow, that is a lot of stuff...even for me!  Now, time to get to work and get just as much done this week :-)

Thursday's Free Pattern (just a little late)

Ok, I am admittedly not the most organized blogger.  I am trying.  I just get so busy with working on orders, my kids and the house that sometimes I forget about it.  I really enjoy writing up my blog posts so please forgive me if and when I fall behind and then play catch up again.

Sorry...I missed last week's Free Pattern so here it is.

This time of year I am all about apples and pumpkins...pretty much anything fall related.  I thought I would share one of my favorite amigurumi patterns by Lion Brand.  I love the Lion Brand website, they have many free patterns available.  You may have to sign up/log in to view this pattern.

This is such a cute little apple.  It would make a great teachers gift, baby rattle, add a sachet inside for a cute little fragrant decoration.

Have Fun!

Fall FUN!

So, yesterday my sister and a good friend of ours came over.  They both have adorable baby boys.  My nephew Ethan is 10 months old and Colten is 8 months old.  They are both big, happy boys and the best of friends.

I just couldn't resist whipping up two hats for them to model together.  HAHA, What were we thinking.  Two mobile, active babies and we expected them to sit nicely and model hats.  Well, that is not exactly how it happened.

Neither baby wanted to keep the hat on and when they weren't pulling their own hat off, they were reaching for the other one.  It was so hilarious and actually a lot of fun.  I mean, you have to have fun with it!

Anyone that drove by and saw 3 adults acting like nuts with two little babies sitting in the grass yesterday...yup, that was us!  We were a sight to see.

After taking nearly 100 pictures, I did manage to have a few that were simply adorable.

Here are a few of the pictures (I included a some out takes as well, just for fun!)

A not so happy little apple.  I don't think he loved the grass.

There is a much happier baby.  Oh he is adorable!!!

This is as about as good as I could get of them both looking and smiling and keeping hats on.  We were trying for a few more but my battery died.  OOPS

I just LOVE this.  It isn't a perfect picture but it is so sweet.

I DON'T WANT TO BE AN APPLE!

Yeah, this sums it up.  LOL  It was such a funny experience.

There is my happy little nephew.

He much preferred being a pumpkin AND in mommy's arms.

Amazingly ADORABLE!

Ethan was happy playing with leaves and sticks.

We all really had a great time and I think they babies had fun laughing at us and making us WORK!

Photo of the day and DEAL of the week!!!

Ok, I was a little busy yesterday and just didn't get around to posting Monday's blog post. OOPS.

So today will combine the two.  The photo of the day is also the deal of the week.
How very clever of me, lol

You can choose to get a Pumpkin or an Apple earflap hat for %15 off today through October 2nd.

Free Pattern of the day

I must admit, I have a pattern addiction.  I am always looking for new and especially FREE patterns.  It is a bit of an obsession.  I will post one of my favorite free patterns here every Thursday.

Today I want to share with you a really fun, classic pattern from CrazySocks Crochet.

HAIR SPIRALS

She is one of my favorite pattern designers so when she posts something for free, it is a super great bonus!

You can find the free pattern  HERE

Here are some that I made for my daughter.  She just adores them!  I can't wait to make a bunch more.

Pumpkin FUN

We LOVE doing crafts around here and since we are getting in the "holiday" spirit, today we decided to do some pumpkin themed crafts.  Sometimes simple is best, we didn't do anything too crazy!

First I grabbed some Magnet Paper and printed out this pumpkin

Then I found an awesome website with lots of pumpkin faces and we printed out a few of those on magnet paper as well.  I did most of the cutting out when it was just me and the little ones but once my daughter got home from school, she took over and cut out many more faces.  As an alternative to printing, you could use a black sharpie and draw your own faces and cut them out.

Click HERE for some awesome templates to use.

Now we have a super fun pumpkin play area on our fridge.  The kids can mix and match the face over and over again.  Endless fun...for my kiddo's anyway :-)

My daughter wanted to make her own paper pumpkin as well so I gave her some construction paper, glue and paint and she went to work.  I just LOVE her creativity!

For this craft, I took the orange construction paper and printed the pumpkin outline right onto it.  Then I printed the face using the templates I posted above.  My daughter did all the cutting and used paint to decorate the stem and leaf.

Here is the template I used for the pumpkin.

We have had lots of fun with these simple crafts...stay tuned for more holiday FUN!
