Random Crafting

I have missed blogging about all of my crafts.  Sometimes we get carried away with our fun and I just don't have time to post each thing individually.  That is not a bad thing until I have to play catch up and post it all at one time.

I admit that over this winter/holiday time, I have not done as many crafts with my kids as I would have liked.  It was just a very busy time for me and for what ever reason, I was not as organized as I normally am.

We did make time for some crafting fun though :-)

Logan got this fun craft for Christmas.  Here he is making some superheros :-)

Fun craft but it was a HUGE fail for us.  LOL  We made out own slime, well we tried :-)

Adding the clear glue
Stirring the "mess".
We were just too impatient.  I missed the part in the directions about it taking a VERY LONG time to mix before the consistency would be right.  So, when we mixed for what seemed like long enough and it was still very runny, we added more and more glue.  Big mistake.  Eventually it did set and we had a very STIFF but pretty ball of nothing.  LOL  We had fun punching holes in our new mold though.

My daughter loves to sew but is still just learning.  These little felt crafts are perfect for her.  She did finish this project, I just don't have any pictures of it yet.

Evie watching Gloria sew.  She is about to attempt it herself.

Evie and Gloria both sewing. SEW proud :-)

We needed to make something Christmas related so we found this cute Christmas tree craft idea.  Super easy.  We just painted some popsicle sticks green (and a little brown for the bottom), wrapped some green pipe cleaners around it and cut to size.  Then we put on some pony beads and twisted the ends to secure.

I cut stars out of paper and added some glue and glitter.  Then I glued a clothespin to the back so it could clip on to the tree.

Next was our attempt as making our FIRST gingerbread house.  Next time I will use hot glue!  hahaha

Here is our gingerbread house attempt, right before it fell apart and we snacked on it.

Gloria is snacking on the front of the house.  She is quite happy it fell apart.

Landon about to dig in!  lol

This was so fun and probably one of the easiest (almost boring) crafts we have made.  They are fun to play with though.

Take 3 wine corks, hot glue them together.  Cut a shape out of craft foam and stick it on with a tooth pick.  We added a little hook to the back to attach a string on one of them.  These float perfectly too.  So fun if you live close to water!

Gloria and I spent a day making our own dough and then making some animals.  Lots of simple recipes can be found on pinterest.  Then we just made the shape we wanted and baked it in our toaster oven for about 20 minutes.  Her new pets have held up well.

Here is the first one we made, just before being baked.  We also made a puppy!
We did these a little late but they were fun anyway.  We will happily hang them on our tree next Christmas (or should I say this Christmas!)

"New" Bella Hood

I love making new things and finding new patterns to fall in love with.  This is just one of those patterns.  I have actually owned this pattern for quite a while but hadn't had the the chance to make one.  Every once in a while I need to stop and just making something I want to make, a little me time crocheting :-)

I am so happy with the results and look forward to making more of these.

You can get this amazing pattern HERE.  It is a pattern by Crazysocks Designs.  I am sure you know that she is one of my favorite designers and I own pretty much all of her designs.  I promise you will not be disappointed.

Don't crochet?  I would be happy to make one for you!
You can order your custom Bella Hood HERE

Here is my sweet Gloria modeling it for me.

It is even cute tucked inside the jacket.  So warm!

This year we had some guinea pig friends join us for our costume fun.  It took ALL day but we did it.  So proud of our creations!

Beautiful day and fun valentines crafts

I love having the kids home from school.  Normally on a January day home from school, we would spend all day inside crafting, snuggling and watching movies.  Well, that is exactly what we did most of the morning.  There was still a bit of snow on the ground so I didn't think it could possibly be in the mid 60's.

First we colored and just drew random fun pictures

Then we got out some construction paper and our trusty stapler and made these fun heart wreaths.  These were so quick and easy, we may need to make more :-)

Seriously, all we did was cut 2 inch strips of paper, fold them in half, fold the other ends in to form a heart and then staple.  Once we had as many as we wanted, we stapled them together and used string to hang them.  Easy Peasy :-)

While we still had the construction paper out, we decided to make a few woven heart bags.  These are actually really easy, they look harder then they really are.  We had so much fun making these that we are going to make some for all their classmates for Valentines Day!

We are going to use thinner strips of the paper and add a little strap.  Aren't they adorable!?

You can find the tutorial we used to make these HERE

You can find different versions of these all over pinterest!

We also painted paper plates and rocks but I didn't take any pictures of that.  We just did it!  lol

In the midst of working on all of this, we discovered how nice it was outside.  We stopped everything and ran out to play.  We road bikes, played in the melting snow and jumped on the trampoline.

It was a pretty great day :-)
