I am sure you have seen and realized, baby pants are all the rage right now, especially with photographers. I mean, really, I can see why! They are adorable!
I finally decided I wanted to make some myself. I am not really a pattern designer but I have wrote a few of my own patterns and have been trying to push myself to do more. I actually really enjoy it. Sometimes I just like to "take the easy way out". There are so many wonderful pattern designers out there and so many wonderful patterns. I knew I could make my own pattern for baby pants but I was unsure of measurements and was super busy at the moment so I started looking for a pattern. I ended up buying one and after making several pair and not liking the sizing or how they worked up, I tried some free patterns (much different style then the first pattern I tried)...still not happy.
Still a little unsure of measurements, I asked a few friends who either have babies or have been making baby pants, for some measurements! I got a variety of answers but they were all pretty similar. So, I went with sort of an average of the measurements and made my first pair of successful baby pants.
I feel good about these! And they are OH SO CUTE!
My favorite part of these (besides how quick and simple they are to make) is the waist band. The method I used to start the waist is one of my favorite methods, I use it whenever possible. It gives a nice fitted band but has lots of stretch, almost like a little elastic waist band.
I am going to work up a few more pair and I will be working with Nicole Renee Newborns on Saturday with a set of twin boys. So, I will get to try them on real life babies, make any size changes necessary and then I will attempt to finish writing up this pattern.
You can visit my Craftsy Pattern Store HERE to see (and purchase) a few of the patterns I already have listed.
I will be sure to post when the Newborn Pants Pattern is ready.
Thanks for stopping by!
